Subject : Prep veneer before pressing?

Hi
I am trying to vac u press some curved chair backs.
My form is only 20 inches and is in an "S" shape.I have some Ash veneer that is 1/16 thick. It seems a tad reluctant to bend over the form, thought it might break in my dry pressing.I hate to lose any more thickness,is there a pre treatment I can do to loosen it up a bit? (heat etc)
Thanks for any help,
Bruce

Bruce,

I'm not sure how much it will help with veneer that is a full 1/16" thick but there is a softener for regular thickness veneer that may do the job.

Its usually called GF-20 and we do carry it. Be aware that after you saturate the veneer you have to dry it out before pressing. I do this by pressing the veneer between newspaper.

Sincerely
