I have a mercury vacuum press that seems to be bound up or something, when you turn it on it just hums. This happened before and they said it was the pressure switch, they sent me 2 new ones and it seemed to fix the problem only now it's doing it again and I put the other switch in but it did'nt help. I have far less hours than my friend who has an old vacupress. I did'nt know anything about them when I purchased it or I would have bought vacupress. I've since replaced my bag with a vacupress and will do the same when the pump dies. I've found mercury's tech support to be very poor, any advice?

P.S. to Darryl, how was your trip to New Zealand? We were talking before you left as we had just returned from a visit with David and Clare

Bill,

Sounds like you have a vane lock which requires you to open up the vacuum chamber and free the vanes. Give me a call at the office, 207-725-0935 and I can walk you through it. Too much typing to do it here and I will need to ask you a few questions since its not our pump. You can also send it to us and we can repair it for you. We dont mind repairing other manufacturers pumps.

New Zealand was beyond fabulous. Most beautiful place in the world. I'll tell you about it when you call.

Sincerely
Darryl Keil
