I'm pressing a new one piece chair back (compound curve) with 1/8" bbirch and two ply top and bottom. My template came out great (no veneer on it) so I pressed another 6 layers bbirch along with the two, 2 plies and I get some bubbles or hollow spots on under side. Is it possible to take white packing foam or maybe carpet pad, wrap with plastic (to keep glue off) and put between form and panel to help remove any spots that don't suck down??? Thanks in advance! Dean

Hello Dean,
I've used cardboard with a sheet of vertical grade laminate between the cardboard and my bottom sheet of veneer to good effect. My new method is to buy the foam that is used under laminate flooring, the blue stuff with plastic already on one side. The material is made to cover big surfaces so it is easy to lap the plastic over the foam of the sheet next to it, without causing excess bulk, to form a continuous surface. I then tape the whole works to the form so it doesn't move around. Good luck.
