Subject : wood on wood veneer

i need to make some wood on wood veneer
the face is bird's eye maple
i have done veneer work but never tried this
do i need to size either layer
i am planning to use "800" w/ white cat.
any suggestions

Don,

No, you dont need to size either layer. Apply the glue to the backer sheet only not both.

Tape the backer sheet at the corners down to your bottom caul, this will make spreading the glue much easier.

Once you have pressed up this "two ply" as I call it, keep it weighted under a sheet of plywood until you use it so it won't warp.
