I have been laying-up raw pearwood veneer on 3/4 Medex in a vacuum press for small vanity doors. I normally use Unibond, but as this is a potentially damp environment, I'm using epoxy instead. I appply enough of a coat to just bleed through in a few spots.
The problem is that after finishing with conversion varnish, small blisters have been appearing at an alarming rate. Any diagnoses? I first thought the cauls were too big and bending, but the same with smaller cauls. Glue-starved joint because of epoxy saturation?

Gytis,

Yes, epoxy is a "high saturator" and you need to press at low vacuum to prevent the possibility of poor or spotty adhesion. I recommend around 10 to 15HG for epoxy pressing with vacuum.
