Is there anything I can do to prevent bleed though of Unibond 800? On most projects, it is not an issue but in the past, I have had some bleed through on figured maple veneers and after clean-up there is still a yellow stain that cannot be elimnated.

Is there a type of sizing that will prevent bleed through?

Or...?

Lomax,

We are aware of what Unibond 800 can do when you get bleed through on maple's, especially curly.

You can size the veneer with the flattening formula solution but the process is tedious as you have to bring the veneer back to being bone dry before you can glue. I only use this when I have to.

There is another solution. For some time we have been working on an additive for Unibond 800 that will minimize or eliminate bleed through. We have finally come up with a product that does the job and not interfere with good bonding. It is called Unibond Blocker and our tests have yielded excellent results. It should be available next week, I hope. Give us a call.

Sincerely
Darryl Keil
