Subject : trimming edges of curved panel and glue clean up

I'm pressing curved ply stools and cabinets and am finding hand planing the edges tedious, what I want to do is after I've made a batch is to strap the piece onto the mold and with a laminate trimmer with a bearing guide take off 3-5 mm either side, is this a good idea? Also having trouble cleaning up my foam rollers after pressing, I'm using urea formaldehyde, also are there any books available you could recommend on various techniques used industrially for bent ply production, I've seen images of the process Artek the finnish company use for its Aalto stuff and its like nothing I've ever seen, they seem to take 1 sheet cut to size and roll press it onto the mold with a heavy (heated?) roller, two workers on either side. Any help would be appreciated - Heath

Heath, I often times will trim my curved panels just like you asked. It works fine. Try using an adhesive roller instead of the foam. They are easy to clean and are available at the "depot". Steve
