Subject : Veneered bowls

I recently got an idea to make veneerded bowls.
So the veneer has to be shaped in three dimensions.
My idea is to use veneer in different colors and press them togheter in a three-dimensional mold.
My inspiration came from a finnish designer called Tapio Wirkkala who made bowls which he carved out of aeroplane-plywood where you could se all the layers in the plywood.
My idea is to do something similar but instead of carving a bowl out of flat plywood I would start out with an already three-dimensionally bent bowl which I think would give an extra dimension to it.( a lot of the word dimension in this text, sorry about that)
The bowls will not be deep, around two inches and the radius will be about one feet.
So my question is, is it possible and which way of doing it would you recommend.
My idea is to make a male/female mold of fibreglass to press the veneer with.

Jens,

Sometimes a question really begs for a phone conversation, and I think yours is one of those. I need a lot of clarification before I can make any suggestions. You can call me at 207-725-0935.

Sincerely
Darryl Keil
