Darryl,

I'd considered and rejected using your honeycomb for several projects because I'd thought I could not apply full pressure. I'd planned to apply the face veneer to one side of the skins and then immediately press the panel sandwich to avoid time for the unbalanced skins to deform. And I could not schedule that work flow.

In answer to Adam's question below, you said that you can press at full vacuum after the skins are applied, which would solve my process problem. But why wouldn't that crush the comb if it would while applying the skins?

If I wanted to make a set of 4 doors each about 15x30 inches, would I be better off pressing each individually or could I press an oversize panel and then cut into pieces?

Should the solid edges be applied before veneering the sandwich faces, or is that a user choice as it is with solid substrates?

Thank you, again, for maintaining this forum.

Very Respectfully,
Larry Root

Larry,

Once the cell structure of the honeycomb is bonded to the skin it is fully stabalized and strengthened. Then it can be pressed at full vacuum.

You could press all four panels together out of one sheet but you would have to put edging strips through the middle so that when you cut it apart your panels would have edging all around.

Sincerely
Darryl Keil
