Subject : glue spots on sycamore

In veneering the American sycamore
veneer I am using to the side panels for a chest of drawers I have gotten
some glue spots on the face veneer. This is not bleed
thru from the pressing, but a couple of spots. I am
using the Unibond 800 with the medium brown catalyst.
Unfortunately, it seems that even scraping and/or
sanding these spots is not going to remove the
yellowish spot that is left behind. Any hints for
removing it or am I sunk? If laying another layer of
veneer over the first one is the only answer, do I
also have to double up the backer veneer on the other
side? The panel is 3/4" mdf and about 8" wide by 34"
long. Thanks for your time.

Keith,

Hate to say it but your sunk, unless you want to bleach the veneer which I assume you dont. The glue spots that sat on the surface have stained the veneer which have penetrated too far. You can add another layer without veneering the back side again. The panel is pretty small and its not a free swinging door, I assume.
