Subject : Curved front drawer with applied molding

I have a project that is basically like the curved drawer front but also needs to have a small molding applied (i.e. 1/4" by 3/8". I just got a sample in maple and very difficult to bend. Not sure what to do? My thoughts are steaming the wood, making my own molding out of alder and that is about it. Still not sure how to get it bent in a vacuum press without slipping around, maybe some sort of template. Any suggestions?

Scott,
Can't you just glue the molding using clamps? If the dry-clamped molding doesn't change the curvature of the drawer front, you don't need to prebend it. If you do need to prebend, try soaking the molding for a short time in water, then using an iron to heat it and plasticize it a little. With such a small molding, you should be able to get it in shape.
Good luck.
