A previous post asked about how best to veneer raised panels. Unfortunately, being my first try, I already shaped my panels. My question is should the top caul be the same size as the raised portion of the panel or should it be the same size as the whole panel. What concerns me is if the top caul is the same size as just the raised portion of the panel won't the bag exert enough pressure on the shaped sides to break them off?
thanks, john

If the panel is just raised on the front side then the back will lay fine on the platen and you can just make the veneer and cover sheet the same size as the raised portion. If its raised on both sides, put little strips around the edges on the back side to take up the gap.
