Can I use a single bottom caul for multiple sandwiches each with its own top caul? That is to say given 4 1'x2' panels to veneer, can I have one common bottom caul with 4 individual top cauls 1'x2'?
thanks, john

J Troth,

Yes, but. The panels sitting on the bottom caul must be near at least one edge. If you have, lets say, a 4'x 6' bottom caul and you put a 1'x 2' panel out in the middle of this caul the bag will create a gasketing effect around the panel so the vacuum will be much less there even though the pump may register full vacuum. Keeping your panel within 1/2" of the edge of this caul will prevent the gasketing effect that happens when the platen grooves are too far away from the panel.

Sincerely
Darryl Keil
