Dear Jerry,My rule for form construction is ribs every 6" on center with two layers of 3/8" bending ply for the skin, or ribs every 3" on center with one layer of 3/8" bending ply.If you are looking for some information on this subject, we have a video called " Working in a Vacuum" which demonstrates curved form work along with other techniques for vacuum presses. You can find info about this in the main section of this web site. Go to the bottom of this forum to get over there.SincerelyDarryl Keil: We are making flat curved plywood panels for curved cabinet doors on : a regular basis. These panels are often paint grade. We sometimes : use a couple layers of bending poplar or mdf panels to create the : 3/8" thick final product for a cabinet door insert. I have made : solid forms with good luck, but they are tedious to make, and use a : lot of material. Is there any rule of thumb on how stiff to make a : form for a vaccuum press? I would love to see a hint book or : something on the market available for me to purchase.
