Dear Bob,I dont see another message on this forum from you so I will address just this one. Although Unibond bonds to plastic laminate and MDF quite well, I am not confident about the layer of contact cement between the Unibond and the surfaces you are trying to repair. It might hold but its not a sure bet. Have you tried putting laquer thinner in a oil can and squirting it underneath the plastic laminate. I have had good luck removing old laminate this way.SincerelyDarryl Keil: Sorry, I accidentally sent the previous message by mistake. Anyway, : to continue, the problem is that the contact cement bond is failing : in some spots, and not in others, so I can't get it off and must : repair it "in place". Unibond 800 would be ideal, since it is thin, : and I can pry up the laminate a little and force it underneath with a : thin blade. I did a test on a moderate sized area yesterday and it : worked nicely. I also fixed a small edge problem where a curve is so : severe that contact cement isn't strong enough to hold (it eventually : flows and then releases.) My concern is I don't know about long term : adhesion. What do you think - (my concerns are long term adhesion to : years old contact cement, and possible long term failure due to the : underlying particle board movement with humidity changes.)
