Subject : Veneering both sides of speaker panels?

Am building a pair of speakers as seen in a recent edition of American Woodworker. It appears they only veneered one side of each panel.Since the speaker box is so ridgedly constructed would this be one occation where you could veneer just one side of the panels??? If not does it matter what type of wood you use to veneer the unseen side of the panels?

Dear Paul,Although you will repeatedly see messages on this forum recommending to veneer both sides, and it is the best course of action, you do not always have to do it. If your speaker are well braced its your call on veneering the inside. In general, what you use for the back side veneer is not important. When a panel is a free swingin door or other item that really needs to stay absolutely flat, the same species of veneer, or at least the same density veneer is the best way to go.SincerelyDarryl Keil: Am building a pair of speakers as seen in a recent edition of : American Woodworker.
