To whom it may concern,I am constructing an large exterior curved double panel door of American White Oak, and have the following concerns:1) With panels sitting unglued in rebated rails and stiles, with a planted moulding, how do I prevent rain water seeping through to the interior.2) Secondly, do I use "pegged" tenons, rather than fox wedges, so that I can first try out the fit on a "cradle" on the ground, to look out for "winding".Any replys would be of tremendous help. Any questions about classical woodcarving or Louis furniture, I would be glad to help anyone - I am a fifteeth generation classical English master woodcarver. Many thanks - Edward Graves-Tagg gravestagg@hotmail.com

My $.02 worth - in your situation, I might consider using small rubber spacer balls combined with a bead of silicon to hold the panel in place and waterproof the panel. The balls will hold the panel evenly in the groove, so that you get a fairly even bead of silicon all the way around the panel. I would also consider sealing all of the parts that will have contact with the silicon, to ensure the most waterproof bond you could get.As for the other question, I am unfamiliar with the term "fox wedges" - can you explain this a little ? Perhaps you could email me a link that details this method, if it's not too much trouble.: To whom it may concern,: I am constructing an large exterior curved double panel door of : American White Oak, and have the following concerns:: 1) With panels sitting unglued in rebated rails and stiles, with a : planted moulding, how do I prevent rain water seeping through to the : interior.: 2) Secondly, do I use "pegged" tenons, rather than fox wedges, so : that I can first try out the fit on a "cradle" on the ground, to look : out for "winding".: Any replys would be of tremendous help.
