Hi, I have some walnut crotch that has what I believe is a crack from drying. It's about an 1/8" wide by 2-1/2"long. It's on the edge so one end is open. If I wet the crack will it swell back together? If so should I wet just the crack or the whole piece. Will it open back up after it's glued? If this isn't the way to go, can I mix water soluable dye to tint unibond 800 or should it be alcohol base? thanks I really enjoy this forum. Wade

Dear Wade,I have found that if you cannot tape a crack together dry and be able to do it without struggling, it will not stay together. With crotch I never use a piece with a crack in it, Ive had too much trouble in the past.If you have to wet it to come together it will never stay.SincerelyDarryl Keil: Hi, I have some walnut crotch that has what I believe is a crack from : drying.
