Dear Bruce,Although Unibond 800 and epoxy are both catalytic type glues, Unibond is not an epoxy, it is a urea resin glue. Epoxy is a type I waterproof glue, Urea is a type II, not a waterproof. For veneering they will both work very well. I prefer Urea's as they are water clean up until cured and they do not bleed through as much as epoxy does. As far as using them in a vacuum press, neither one preforms better, although with epoxy it is recommended to turn down the vacuum level so as not to starve the glue joint. Wheather to use epoxy or urea is more about the specifics of the project as each glue has its attributes.SincerelyDarryl Keil: Is unibond glue a 2 part epoxy? I have some "System Three" : and "Raka" epoxies left over from a couple of kayak building projects : and wanted to know if I could use it in my press. These epoxies : harden in about 24 hrs using the standard hardener and are fully : cured in a few days (with an ambient temp approx 68 deg F). How does : this relate to Unibond? Are there any special attributes of Unibond : that make it better suited to vacuum veneering?
