I recently veneered 4 drawer fronts by placing all 4 fronts in 1 caul.(Vacuum setup) They were all the same width so rather that making 4 seperate cauls, I sandwiched them in 1 setup. I wound up with some areas around the edges that didn't press well. The core material was consistent, as well as the veneer thickness. Am I expecting too much of this setup? If I want to press multiple pieces under 1 caul,(melamine) should I use rubber between the caul and work piece to compensate for any irregularities?I've also tried pressing pieces of identical size in stacks. While loading the bag, the stacks never fail to shift around. I wind up spending too much time trying to shift the stack back into allignment. Isn't there a simple way to deal with this?

Dear Joe,Without seeing your situation I cant say for sure what went wrong, it should have worked. The only thing I will say, is all the piece need to be butted up close to each other, no morethan 1/4" apart or you can have problems. The addition of a 1/16" rubber caul would alwayshelp but should not be nessesary. As far as stacking, I always wrapped some masking tape around my bundle which took careof the slippage issue.SincerelyDarryl Keil I recently veneered 4 drawer fronts by placing all 4 fronts in 1 caul.(Vacuum setup) They were all the same width so rather : that making 4 seperate cauls, I sandwiched them in 1 setup.
