Frank,With each chessboard I have made since your class I have been faced with a new challenge. On this my third I have problem that I need your help with. I have two squares that failed to bond with the substrate. One is rippled slightly and open to the edge, the other has a bubble in the center. So I now have several questions on the best way to fix this.I plan on squeezing some glue under the edge but should I slice the rippled square or will the vacuum pull it flat? Also I am concerned about the quantity of glue to inject if I get to much will the pressure from the vacuum pull the veneer flat or do I end up with a ski slope on that part of the chessboard. My other concern is that if I slice the veneer to relieve the ripple then when the veneer is pulled against the substrate I will have an overlap that will show even after sanding. If I do not slice then do I end up with a bump that cannot be sanded out? I suspect the cause was insufficient glue when I pressed this but do you have any other thoughts as to what can cause this problem.ThanksJim

Jim,Rather than slicing the defective area I suggest you get a hypodermic syringe if you can. This wayyou dont have to make a slice. Inject glue until it oozes up around the shaft of the needle, this should be enough glue. As long as you put a cover sheet over the bad spots the vacuumpress will flatten it. Good luckFrank Pollaro: Frank,: With each chessboard I have made since your class I have been faced : with a new challenge. On this my third I have problem that I need : your help with.
