Dear Peter,You dont need a backer veneer under MDF. The main purpose of backer veneer is to insulatethe face veneer from the movement in the substrate that might show up in the finish veneer..Since there is no movement in MDF a backer is not needed. The only time I would use a backeron MDF is if I have some solid wood edging that the face veneer will go over. The backer willprotect the face veneer from showing any movement at the glue joint.SincerelyDarryl Keil: When veneering an MDF tabletop, do I need routinelybacker veneer?: What is the purpose of backer veneer when using MDF as a substrate?: Thanx.
