Dear Joe,Yes, this idea would work fairly well.Im not clear why you want to do it this way, as regular wood glues are always superior to contact cement and laminate backer adheres quite well with wood glues. I do recommend youkeep you veneer-laminate two ply under some kind of weight until you use it as most two plywarp if they sit around.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I recently acquired a huge quantity (for free) of the backer material that is used in laminate work.: Last night, I threw some oak burl veneer and backer material into my homemade press to see what would : happen. This morning I checked the piece. It worked fine (with just some minor bowing). : Here is the question: Could I now use this combo with contact cement onto a piece of MDF and balance it with : another piece of backer material using contact cement?: I know this creates an additional step in veneering but it would be nice to use the veneer right off the shelf : immediately when I want to use it.: Thanks !
