Subject : Thick veneer inlay warping an issue?

I have solid mahogany legs (1.75" square tapered to 1.25") and plan to inlay a chevron continuing most the length of the leg. The inlay will probably be satinwood or maple. I'm considering cutting my own veneer 1/16" on the bandsaw. The inlay would be left proud then sanded flush so depth would be approximately 1/24".Since mahogany is such a stable wood, will the veneer cause a strain or crack in the mahogany leg? I've not been able to find any information about this and I never underestimate the forces of nature.

Dear Steve,Your mahogany legs are too small to be concerned about stresses the veneer might cause not to mention the thickness of leg is stout enough to withstand any movement of the veneer.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I have solid mahogany legs (1.75" square tapered to 1.25") and plan : to inlay a chevron continuing most the length of the leg.
