Dear Karson,There are a couple of things to consider. First, tempered masonite does not always receive glue well so you may want to choose something else. Also, you are not going to achieve 1/4" the way you are attempting because you must put resawn veneer on both sides of your panel or it will warp badly, you cannot veneer just one side. You will have to rabbet the panel afterwards to fit the 1/4" groove. Last, Unibond does have some gap filling abilities, but your veneer should be reasonalby flat and smooth.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I purchased some beautiful spotted maple lumber at a saw mill and I : wanted to make my own sawed veneer and then glue it up to make inset : panels for kitchen cabinet doors. Most router bits for doors make a : 1/4 grove for the inset panels. Can I glue the sawed veneer onto 1/8" : hardboard (masonite) or do I need to look for 1/8" plywood? And is : the Unibond 800 good for gap filing when using sawn veneers or do I : need to work the side of the veneer that is glued to make it smoother : than the band saw blade marks? Thanks.
