I recently bought a very nice, large, wooden table at a garage sale. The top of the table is veneer and is in bad shape. I would like to know how to get the old veneer off. I have no idea what type of glue was used on the table. The table is too large to soak in water if a water soluble glue was used. The veneer is a different color from the rest of the table and is very slick and shiny. It seems almost as if there is a coating on top of it unlike other veneers I have seen. I would really appreciate your advice. Thanks, Kim Francum

:Dear Kim.If the table was pressed with either Hide glue or PVA glue(white or yellow glue) youcan remove the veneer with a hot household type iron. If it is a urea resin glue, youwill have to sand it off. Trying the iron technique will tell you if its urea resin or not.SincerelyDarryl Keil I recently bought a very nice, large, wooden table at a garage sale.
