Dear Chris,On the 10 1/2" radius I think you will be fine with very little spring back, but the 4 3/4 radius I highly doubt will work at all. Possibly if you soak the 1/16" laminations in water and then putthem on the form for a few days, letting them dry, they may hold the shape enough to allowyou to make the tight radius. I cant guarantee it will work but its worth a try.Sincerely Darryl Keil : Dear Forum, I need to fabricate some drawer box fronts. Afew are : curved in a smooth radius IR of appx. 10 1/2" and a few are flat with : a radiused end IR of apxx 4 3/4" The drawer boxes themselves need to : be solid maple, so I am assuming that it may not be a good idea to : marry laid up ply end to end at the corners with solid maple. I would : like to try to press up 8, 1/16th inch thick resawn maple into a 1/2" : drawer box front for each type. In your opinion will I get away with : this with such a tight radius on the one and what kind of springback : do you think I can expect ? Thanks! ( I really should just go and : try to do it, but still I would appreciate some professional advice : on the long term consequences of this method.) Thanks again!
