Dear Glen,Do me a favor, fax me a drawing with a cross section of this table, the legs and how you see them attaching to thetop. I think I see it, but sometimes I get it wrong and make recommendations that are way off because I didnt understand what was going on. My fax # is 207-725-0932. Once I look overwhat you send, I will respond on this forum.: Daryl Kiel, : Thanks for the reply. I am sandwiching the two layers of MDF to : give some thickness but mainly for rigid strenth. The table size is : 6'w x 12'long. I had not considered an apron unless its necessary. It : will have a 2or 3" solid edge cap arond the perimiter. The legs will : be 40" wide x 28 1/2" tall x 6"thick. It is 2x framework with 3/4" oak : ply wrap around it. THen I will bolt a 12" x 48" x 1 1/2" board to the : top of the leg, then I will bolt thru the overlapping part of attaching : board into the under side of the MDF top. This is were the question of : type of bolt/screw and insert if needed will be used. Considering the : long span I'm thinking it needs three of the leg supports. Also what : type of glue, need working time and rigid when set. DO you think its : necessary to use veneered bottm layer MDF so it can be glued : and screwed and not warp. I really appreciate you taking the time to : reply. Great website hope I can start veneering some projects : soon, afraid to practice on something this large. : : Thanks : Glen : Timber Treasures
