Subject : Backing Veneer Grain Orientation

If the top of a round table is veneered with a large marquetry piece in the middle, starburst veneer pattern around the marquetry, then a starburst pattern rim, hopefully I don't need to repeat the same pattern on the bottom of the panel? What should be the grain orientation of the bottom veneer? Based on other messages, I expect to use the same species of veneer on the bottom. Thanks!

Dear Dan,For practical purposes I just put veneer on the bottom side all going in the same direction. Since the top is a radial, the direction of the veneer on the bottom can go in any direction.SincerelyDarryl Keil: If the top of a round table is veneered with a large marquetry piece : in the middle, starburst veneer pattern around the marquetry, then a : starburst pattern rim, hopefully I don't need to repeat the same : pattern on the bottom of the panel?
