Dear Dan,You can put the edge banding on before or after, its really up to you. You didnt mention whether your edge banding was solid or veneer which might effect which way I did it if it was me. In general I like to put my edge banding on afterwards so I can lay up the main veneered panel large and trim the entire top to size later. I also like to have my edge banding be solid wood even if its only 1/8" as this protects the veneered top from getting chipped along the edge. For clamping I use a metal band clamp and do 1/2 at a time.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I'm about to veneer a round table top as my first veneer project and : plan to use paper back veneer with yellow glue and mechanical press : but I have a question on attaching the edge band. Do you glue the : edge band on the core first, then trim it prior to pressing on the : top and bottom veneers? Should you use the same yellow glue on the : edge band - if so, how do you clamp it on a round top? Would it be : okay to use contact cement on the edge band? Thanks for any advice : you can offer.
