Subject : Steam bending with vacuum press?

I have been reading alot lately about steam bending and wonder whether anyone has any experience with this. I have used my press for bent laminations, but am wondering about other possibilities, preferably using solid stock. Will the bag (heavy duty) work like a back strap or will strapping still be necessary? What about temperature and it's effect omn the bag? Any answers will be appreciated.

Dear Sanford,I dont think the bag will work well for steam bending. First the bag will not hold the wood in the same way as a steel strap. Also, the heat from the steamed wood will deform the bag permanently, especially a vinyl bag.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I have been reading alot lately about steam bending and wonder whether : anyone has any experience with this.
