Lately we have encountered loose edges around the perimeter of the panels we are laying up. It appears that on these flat panels the pressure is not as great at the edge. What can we do to insure that the pressure is sufficient at the edge. We are using a flat press and all indications are that we are drawing plenty of vacuum as we are using a large industrial vacuum and are getting pressures in excess of 25. Thanks for any suggestions. I always try to make my panels oversize to start with because of the is problem. When I cannot trim the panel down, as I am currently doing as I type this, which is a 36x89 birds-eye maple table top, I make sure I have about twice the glue on the exterior 2" of the panel than I do on the center. Then I switch the press on and PRAY. When (not if) I get the pick up, or loose spot, I then pry up carefully and blow new glue in and either clamp or use an iron to get the loose spot down. I am using Titebond II on this job for two reasons. One, it is light colored and Two, I can iron it down if I get that loose spot.Douglas VincentFine Furniture and Designhttp://www.vincentfurniture.com
