For the same species will the pull be greatly differant between plain sliced and rotary cut veneer. Can I use Kewazinga on the face and plain cut Bubinga on the back (to save some cost) ?

Jim, That will work fine. Generally, I'll use a backer grade veneer, usually maple or mahogany, on the back side of all my work. You'll find that backer grade is less expensive and is usually pretty wide so it saves alot of time. John.
