Dear Francois,There are two simple things you can do which are to put a oil finish under the laquer. This does "yellow" things a bit and you need to wait a number of days before top coating with laquer. The other thing is to sand the wood to a higher grit, like 320 or even higher. There are some chemicals you can apply but I am not very familiar with them and they are fairly toxic to work with.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I have made a couple of projects using light color figured veneer such as curly sycamore and Karelian birch. The results have : not been quite as nice as I expected. The grain pattern does not "come out" like crotch mahogany or redwood burl. I have : been finishing all my project with lacquer. Any idea on how to improve the visual effects. I am open to other types of finish to : get the right results.: Thanks
