Dear John,First, be aware that all the different types of veneer tape are designed to supply the industries needs not the custom shop. Whats availible is a result of their demands.40 gram is the most common thickness in veneer tape. 30 gram is thinner and sands off easier, the down side is its not as strong. Stick with 40 gram. There is a 50 gram which is even stronger but not so common and 40 gram is really plenty. As far as color, white or brown, it really does not make any difference. Again if you sand off the veneer tape, a white tape on a dark wood will make it clear when all the tape is removed. About no hole, two hole and three hole tape, no hole and two hole are meant to go on the face side of the veneer. Three hole is designed to go on the glue side, the center row of holes goes directly over the seam to permit good glue penetration at the joint. The only real difference between no hole and three hole is around sanding. For big industry that sands off the veneer tape two hole has a little less there to remove. For the custom shop I suggest no hole as it is a little stronger and easier to pull off in one piece if you remove the tape with water which is what I do and recommend. A lot easier than sanding unless you have a wide belt sander.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I noticed that there are several different types of veneer tape.: 30 gram, 40 gram, white, brown kraft, 2 hole, 3 hole, no hole.: Does anyone know what the different uses would be for each?: Thanks
