I just finished a new veneered table top with a water-based finish. I was not happy with the results so sanded off the water-based finish. Unfortunatly I sanded down through the veneer in one spot. I am getting ready to re-veneer the table top. Do I need to completely sand off the originial veneer since the new veneer will be going in the exact same orientation as the original veneer?

Richard, As long as all the finish is removed and the first veneer is glued down solid, then veneering over top the first veneer should be fine. Good luck, John.
