Daryl,It's hard for me to say if 3/32" is too thick. This depends on how tight the bend actually is and how many lamination it will take to make the legs. I like to be able to bend a single lamination with my bare hands into place, if I can do that then I usually go ahead. Also, the more laminations the less spring back. Six lamination or more will make for pretty low spring back. You can use the NGR analine stain but only a small amount since it is in liquid form. Better to get the straight powdered type as there is no additional liquid to affect the setting of the glue.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I'm building a music stand made of curly redwood. I intend to make : the legs with some severe curves in them, so I figure I should make : them out of bent laminations (mostly curly redwood probably at about : 3/32" thick plys, and some maple, so after they are formed and : scraped, it will be two toned). My questions are:: 1. SO you have any experience with laminating such a wood? DO you : think 3/32" is too thick for curly redwood?: 2. Since I inted to use your Unibond glue (it did such a terrific job : on my torsion box shelves last year), and I need to color the glue to : match the redwood, can I use something like Behlen's NGR alcohol : based dye, or must I use something else? : Thank you.
