I have some raised panel doors that I need to make. It's been about 8 years since I turned on My Vacu press. So I'm a little rusty. My Question is, can I use an mdf panel with Mahogony boards glued to the perimater for the raised panel portion and using unibond 800 for pressing on both faces of Crotch without any cross banding? When dry run thru shaper. Thanks, Paul

Paul,The only problem is where the veneer goes over the joint between the solid wood border and the mdf panel, even if its just a little bit. You can get some telegraphing at this line and possibly a little cracking over time. A backer veneer would prevent this. If you dont want to go to the extra trouble at least glue the solid wood on with the Unibond 800. Regular yellow glues will "creep" which in part will cause the telegraphing problem. The rigidity of Unibond 800 will eliminate this.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I have some raised panel doors that I need to make. It's been about 8 : years since I turned on My Vacu press.
