John,PVA glue for the seam joints of the veneer is fine. Epoxy or Urea Resin glue is fine for the main gluing. Personally I would use Urea Resin glue but epoxy will work well too, just a bit messier and harder to clean up. Make sure each layer is glued up 90 degrees to the next one for maximum strength. Do not pre-wet the veneers it will just compromise the glue joint. If you have to, lay down three layers in one pressing and the rest in the next.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I'm a woodworking student building a bent plywood chair. It will be : made from a sandwich of 5 plys of 1/16" white ash. The flitches that : I've purchased are 8" to 12" wide each. The plywood seat and back : need to be "structural," as they are supporting the sitter's weight : and are attached to steel legs. What type of glue would you : recommend to butt join the flitches? PVA? Because the chair needs to : be strong and relatively rigid, I'd like to use epoxy (West System) : between the sandwich plys, are these adhesives compatible? Is epoxy : the right choice? Should I heat or wet the plys during, prior, or, : at all? : The ply sandwich will be bent over a MDF caul, which has some subtle : compound curves. I'll be using a vacuum press. : Thanks in advance.
