I've been doing flat veneers the old fashion way for quite some time. Hide glue and a wood screw press with 75 wooded screws. Can the new veneer glues be used without a vac press? Ive tried pva with poor results. Hide is great stuff but if you have a spill you get a bubble, of course it can be fixed but I would like to avoid it all.Don

Don,Modern glues like PVA's and Urea Resin glues can be used by any press not just vacuum. The key is very uniform pressure, if you have that you will have success. In fact, its more the uniformity of pressure than the amount of it, although you do need a reasonable amount too. This is why a vacuum press works so well, its so uniform.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I've been doing flat veneers the old fashion way for quite some time. : Hide glue and a wood screw press with 75 wooded screws.
