Subject : Joining Veneer w/o press

I posted a question here awhile ago about veneering my drumset. I'm wondering how well a good contact cement will hold up. I would prefer to use a glue, but I have no way of getting my hands on a press and try to figure out a way to make it work. The veneer will be applied in 2 pieces on the drum. Can I overlap it and sand it flush? or is it better to cut it at an angle for a scarf joint? I'm worried about seeing the seams on the drum.

Jason,Contact cement really wont hold up all that well. If its your own drumset you could always deal with the bubbles that may develope, but if its for someone else I wouldnt do it.I also wouldnt overlap the veneer joint and then sand it. Take the extra time to make a clean joint, it will look much better in the end.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I posted a question here awhile ago about veneering my drumset.
