what are the steps to follow to apply a 2" crossbanded border to a table top? Do I lay up the field veneer first, let it cure then rout off the 2" wide rabbet. I'm using unibond 800. Must I rout to below the glue line?

Peter,I suggest you tape up your short grain border to your main field and glue it all up at once. This is the common way it is done. If the two veneers are of different thicknesses you can use 1/16th black rubber between the veneer and cover sheet, if not just skip it. If you use the rubber make sure you put a film of plastic under the rubber so there is no chance the Unibond 800 glues the rubber to the veneer.SincerelyDarryl Keil: what are the steps to follow to apply a 2" crossbanded border to a : table top?
