Raymond,I suggest you talk to the people at oakwoodveneer.com. Paper backed veneer is their specialty and they can answer your questions about the backing. They may even be able to recommend a Canadian source for paper backed veneer. As far as glue, yellow glue is by far a better option if you have a way to press it. If you end up using contact cement, a coat on both the paper and the substrate is required. Maybe two coats on the substrate if its real absorbent.SincerelyDarryl Keil: Hi, today I tried to find the paper-backed veneer and found two kind : of paper in the back. They come in two different size - 10" x 99" and : 24" x 99". The small roll comes with a very fine/thin paper in the : back (which seems reasonable) but the big one with a pretty thick : paper which seems to be able to be peeled off easily! Since I need : the bigger size, I am wondering if the ones with thick paper is OK or : not. Do I just apply glue (contact cement or yellow glue) right on : the thick paper? Please note that I am located in Toronto, Canada : (The place that I went to is Fair Bank Lumber. Canadian Home Depot : only carries the small size - 10" x 99"). If any Canadian friend : knows of a better place to source the veneer, please drop me a note. : Thanks for any inputs. : Raymond
