I just veneered a table top of Sapele with a 1 1/2 inch band of curly maple. I used unibond 800 for the first time and got great results. the only problem was some yellow staining of the curly maple. I have scraped and sanded to the point that I don't feel I can go any deeper. Two questions, did I use too much glue and can I tint the laquer finish to hide the staining?

Joel,If you overglue and get too much bleed through it can stain maple yellow. Curly maple is a bit tricky because the curl allows extra glue to come through. This is why you got the staining. Tinting the laquer or staining the veneer will work but you may want to try it on a sample to be sure of getting the look you want.Basically on maple you want to see no bleed through or just a little spotting here and there.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I just veneered a table top of Sapele with a 1 1/2 inch band of curly : maple.
