Dear Fred,A couple of possibilities, one you may have used too much water to remove the tape. A solution to this is to use Urea Resin glue as water will not affect it. Second, the veneer may not have been adhered well and the water just swelled the veneer exposing the problem. You may have not used enough glue. I will say that maple is especially wrinkle prone and extra sensitive to how much glue you apply and how fast you get the veneer under pressure.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I have a strange (to me) problem:: I glued up a panel; MDF substrate, figured maple one side, plain : maple back side, yellow glue. After 24 hours I wet and removed the : veneer tape in the usual fashion, both sides. Shortly thereafter, on : the back side, longitudinal blisters formed. But no problem on the : front (figured maple, same thickness) side. I was able, more or less, : to fix the problem by pie-crusting the blisters and then ironing them : down.: This raises 2 questions:: 1. What happened? why the blisters? and: 2. How, in the future, do I remove the veneer tape without causing : this problem again?
