I am new to veneering. Recently I tried veneer koa on to a plywood panel and had now problem. When I veneered cherry to the back side of the panel I got severe wrinkling of the veneer. It was noticeable as soon as I took it out of the vacuum. I am using yellow extend time glue. The humidity was higher on the day I veneer the cherry could that be it?

Dear Richard,Veneer wrinkling is usually due to three things. Using too much glue, waiting too long to apply pressure once the veneer is on the panel, and using yellow glue in the first place. This is not to say you should not use yellow glue, you just have to be more aware of the first two considerations when using it. Some veneers are also more wrinkle prone that others, cherry is that way to some extent. When using yellow or white glue be careful not to use too much glue and get under pressure as quickly as possible.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I am new to veneering.
