Anton,I am not familiar with the particular machine you are interested in but I can speak about pressing stitched veneer in a vacuum press. It is true that vacuum presses do not re-melt the thread during pressing but I do not find this a real problem. I handle this by putting the stitching on the face side of the veneer for the front side of the panel. In the process of scraping and sanding the veneer the stitching is removed automatically. For the veneer on the back side of the panel I do put the stitching into the glue. On the inside of a door or the underside of a table I dont really mind if there is a slight amount of thread ghosting. With the kind of machine you are considering the thread is laid down pretty smoothly. If it wasnt for the fact that veneers are getting so thin I would recommend burying the thread into the glue all the time.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I was wondering if anyone has used any small veneer stitching machines: and what the results are. I was looking at buying a casati bench: model. Has anyone used one? Also has anyone had experience using: stitching machines with vacuum pressing? I am afraid that the zig zag: may show up due to the fact that in vacuum pressing there is no heat: to melt it really flat.

Anton,I am familiar with the Casati table top. It is basically a clone of the Kuper Mini. A small soldering iron is used to heat the thread. There is no compensation for varying veneer thicknesses (IE: shim sheets / thick and thins, or mixed species layups) We manufacture our own table top machine here at Veneer Systems. I would appreciate the opportunity to talk to you about the differences between our machine and the Casati. My direct telephone number is 856-309-5137Thank YouJohn ErsingVeneer Systems: : I was wondering if anyone has used any small veneer stitching machines: : and what the results are.
