Is there an inexpensive product that is used to veneer the back unseen side of a panel? OR do you just use the cheapest veneer you can find?Does the back side veneer need to match the face veneer in thickness and construction ( 2-ply, foil, paper, etc ) to keep the panle from warping? Thanks in advance.Carl

Carl,Gatorply or Yorkite is an impregnated paper product used for backing. When the backside veneer matches the front you can just about guarantee a stable panel. When you mix and match the results can vary. A number of factors determine what you may use and how much a panel will move. How thick is the panel, how larger or small is the panel, what kind of veneer is it, is it a free floating panel or will it be locked in place. All these factors determine what the back side material should or could be. There is no one answer. When your not sure the safest course of action is to balance with the same or similar material both sides. With the amount of effort that goes into veneering I think the little extra cost to put similar material on the back is well worth it in the long run.SincerelyDarryl Keil: Is there an inexpensive product that is used to veneer the back : unseen side of a panel?
