David,Although you can get away without putting cross banding veneer between the bending plys, you will get a panel that holds the radius truer and is more stable. If its a fixed panel and the radius is not too tight you dont have to do it. If its a door or a door panel I would cross band it. I always leave the veneer tape on the cross banding and let it get buried. I do use 3 hole veneer tape so there is plenty of contact between the surfaces.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I would like to fabricate a serpentine surface using 2 or 3 layers of : bending ply. From what I've read here, xbands between each layer are : recommended. I assume this means backer veneer taped and placed : between each layer of bending ply. : Questions is does the xband stay taped during the vac process? Or if : the tape needs to be removed, how would I keep the veneer together : during this process? Better yet, can I get away without xband : between each layer of bending ply, and just xband the final face (and : back) veneer layer?: Thanks.
