Brian,Im glad this forum has been a benefit to you. I value the sharing of information. Paper backed veneer is really an acceptable product and I would not hesitate to use it. I dont use it much because I like to match my own veneers. I like to have more control over the final look, raw veneer gives me that control. The only real problem I have with paper backed veneer is its very thin which does not leave me much ability to sand if needed. Since its already sanded the main surface is not an issue. Its more at the edges where a solid border may be applied and sanding is required to blend the edge to the veneer. As far as you "mailbox" goes, it should fit in a standard 4x8 bag.SincerelyDarryl Keil: First I would like to thank you for your fourm. It has been a great : source of info. concerning veneering. I have completed about a dozen : projects with my press and wanted to know a little more about the : backers on venner. I have used a 2-ply wood and 10-mill paper back : primarily. Is paper backed veneer an inferior product and what are : the risks of using paper backed venners? : Also, we may start a job for a client that may require a special size : bag to accept the bulky form. It is shaped like a large mailbox, : about 20"x 20"x 4'. Any suggestions?
